This house renovation project began with a visit from the SMA Regina Pacis alumni to the home of their former teacher. The house was in a deplorable condition: a leaking roof, damaged ceiling, dull walls, and bare cement floors.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe initially visited as a multi-generation alumni group. When we saw the house, we could say it was in a state of dilapidation, not suitable for living,\u201d said Handy Gumilar, the architect and the technical PIC of the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

From this visit, the drive to take action was born. Alumni from various generations united, contributing funds and materials, until the project took off like a professional endeavor \u2014 complete with architectural design, scheduling, and budgeting planning.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the main challenges of the project was the old house design, which had many level differences in the floors, making it difficult for the occupant who uses a wheelchair.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe decided to create ramps at several points because not everything could be made into a perfect staircase,\u201d explained Handy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAwalnya itu kunjungan lintas angkatan. Kita lihat rumahnya itu bisa dibilang rutilahu, rumah tidak layak huni,\u201d ujar <\/span>Handy Gumilar<\/b>, arsitek yang juga menjadi PIC teknis proyek ini.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dari situlah muncul dorongan untuk bertindak. Alumni berbagai angkatan pun bersatu, menyumbangkan dana dan material, hingga akhirnya proyek berjalan layaknya proyek profesional \u2014 mulai dari desain arsitektur, time schedule, hingga perencanaan anggaran dan material.<\/span><\/p>\n

Desain Inklusif: Solusi Arsitektural untuk Pengguna Kursi Roda<\/b><\/h2>\n

Salah satu tantangan utama proyek ini adalah desain rumah lama yang memiliki <\/span>banyak perbedaan level lantai<\/b>. Hal ini menyulitkan penghuni rumah yang menggunakan kursi roda.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cKita putuskan beberapa titik dibuat <\/span>ramp<\/span><\/i> karena tidak semua bisa dibuat trap sempurna,\u201d jelas Handy.<\/span><\/p>\n
